What Is a PT33 Prescription?

PT33 (Por Thor 33) is Thailand’s official prescription form for cannabis. It became mandatory in late June 2025, when cannabis flower was reclassified as a controlled herb. The form is issued and signed by a licensed practitioner, not filled in by the patient, and records your details, the reason for treatment, and the type and amount of cannabis prescribed. Without it, a licensed shop cannot sell you cannabis flower. For the wider legal picture, read our guide to Thailand cannabis laws in 2026.

Who Can Get a Cannabis Prescription?

  • You are 20 years of age or older
  • You have a valid passport, or a Thai ID card if you are a resident
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You have a health reason the practitioner can assess, such as trouble sleeping, stress or pain

Thai citizens, expats and visitors are all eligible. The final decision always rests with the practitioner, who may approve, adjust or decline a request.

How It Works at High Thai Weed: 4 Steps

  1. Submit the form. Share your details and a short description of your symptoms. Travellers can send the form before their flight.
  2. Practitioner review. A licensed Thai traditional medicine practitioner reviews your request and may contact you on WhatsApp or LINE with a few follow-up questions.
  3. Receive your prescription. If approved, your PT33 prescription is sent to you by email.
  4. Visit our shop. Bring your prescription and passport to High Thai Weed on Sukhumvit Soi 33. Our budtenders will help you choose products that fit your prescription. You can browse our cannabis strains beforehand to compare effects and flavours.

What to Bring to the Store

  • Your PT33 prescription, on your phone or printed
  • The same passport or Thai ID you used in your request

Cost and Validity

There is no charge for the prescription when you request it through High Thai Weed. Prescriptions issued through High Thai Weed are valid for 7 days. Thai law allows a maximum of 30 days, and prescriptions cannot be refilled. Once yours expires, you simply submit a new request.

Can Tourists Get a Cannabis Prescription in Thailand?

Yes. Thailand does not limit medical cannabis to its citizens. Visitors aged 20 or over can apply with their passport, and many of our customers send the form before their flight so the prescription is ready when they arrive in Bangkok. The prescription covers use inside Thailand only: never take cannabis to the airport or across a border.

Why Foreign Medical Cards Are Not Accepted

A medical marijuana card or prescription from the US, Canada, Europe or anywhere else is not recognised in Thailand. Thai rules require a PT33 issued by a practitioner licensed in Thailand, so even long-term medical cannabis patients need a Thai prescription before buying here.

Where You Can Use Your Cannabis

Smoking cannabis in public places is not permitted in Thailand. That includes streets, BTS and MRT stations, parks and temples. Our 3F smoking lounge and 6F rooftop bar are private spaces where you can relax with your purchase, open daily until 3 AM.

After You Are Approved: Visit Us on Sukhumvit Soi 33

High Thai Weed is at 9/23 Sukhumvit Soi 33, Khlong Tan Nuea, Watthana, Bangkok 10110, a short walk from BTS Phrom Phong. We are open daily from 10 AM to 3 AM. Explore our cannabis menu with prices before you come, and find directions on our store locations page.
